How to value your vinyl collection using Discogs prices
Median prices, condition adjustments, and tracking value over time.
Discogs median prices are a starting point. They reflect recent sales for a release, not always your pressing or your copy's condition.
Reading Discogs market data
- Median price: Middle of recent sales. Good for a ballpark.
- Low / high range: Spread between rough copies and sealed ones.
- Currency: Normalize if you buy from sellers in other countries.
Adjust for your copy
Subtract for VG wear. Add for sealed first pressings with clear provenance. Note mono vs stereo, country, and label variants.
Track value over time
A single estimate is a snapshot. Log value on a schedule (weekly or monthly) if you want to see change over months, not only today's number.
